Before you start

Lava Guide is a curated travel app that helps you discover the best of Tenerife. We share hikes, beaches, towns, day trips and local experiences based on our own exploration of the island.

By using Lava Guide, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What Lava Guide is (and what it is not)

Lava Guide is an information resource. We are not an official tourism authority, certified guide service, or government body. Our content reflects our personal experience and research, but it is not a substitute for official information.

Here is what this means for you:

  • Our recommendations are based on our own experience exploring Tenerife. They are curated opinions, not certified facts.
  • Trail conditions, access points, opening hours, prices, and local regulations can change at any time without notice.
  • We do our best to keep information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is current at the time you read it.
  • You are responsible for verifying information before acting on it, especially for activities that involve physical risk.

Outdoor activities and your safety

Tenerife offers incredible outdoor experiences, but nature comes with real risks. Lava Guide provides information about hikes, beaches, viewpoints, and other outdoor activities. We do not provide safety assessments, risk evaluations, or professional guidance.

When using our recommendations for outdoor activities, you accept that:

  • Trail conditions change due to weather, erosion, volcanic activity, and seasonal factors. A trail that was safe last month may not be safe today.
  • Ocean conditions are unpredictable. Currents, tides, and wave patterns change constantly. Beaches that appear calm can become dangerous without warning.
  • Altitude, heat, and terrain on Tenerife can be physically demanding. You are responsible for assessing your own fitness level before attempting any activity.
  • Some areas may require permits, have restricted access, or be temporarily closed. It is your responsibility to check current access rules before visiting.
  • Weather in Tenerife varies significantly by altitude and region. Always check the weather forecast before heading out, especially for mountain hikes.
  • Emergency services may have limited access in remote areas. You should carry appropriate supplies, inform someone of your plans, and have a way to call for help.

Lava Guide is not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, or harm that may occur during activities you undertake based on information in the app. You participate in all activities at your own risk and using your own judgment.

We strongly encourage you to respect the island's natural environment, follow marked trails, and observe all local signs and regulations.

Local rules and regulations

Tenerife has specific rules and regulations that protect its natural environment, wildlife, and cultural heritage. These rules can change, and it is your responsibility to stay informed.

Examples of regulations that may affect your activities:

  • Access restrictions in protected natural areas (Teide National Park, Anaga Rural Park, and others)
  • Permit requirements for certain trails and areas
  • Rules about camping, fires, and waste disposal
  • Marine protected areas and beach regulations
  • Drone usage restrictions
  • Noise and behavior regulations in residential areas

Your account

To use Lava Guide, you need to create an account. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information when you sign up
  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • All activity that happens under your account

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at legal@skyp.app.

Intellectual property

All content in Lava Guide, including text, photographs, illustrations, maps, curated itineraries, and design elements, is owned by Lava Guide and protected by intellectual property laws.

You may:

  • Use the content for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment
  • Share your experience of using Lava Guide with others

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content
  • Use our content for commercial purposes
  • Scrape, extract, or systematically download content from the app
  • Remove any attribution or proprietary notices

Acceptable use

We expect you to use Lava Guide responsibly. You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access, tamper with, or reverse engineer any part of the app's infrastructure
  • Scrape or systematically collect content from the app
  • Submit harmful, abusive, or misleading feedback
  • Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws
  • Share your account credentials with others or allow unauthorized access

Lava Guide reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action against any behavior that violates these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Lava Guide provides its content and services "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any information in the app.
  • We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the app or reliance on its content.
  • This includes, without limitation, any injury, loss, or damage resulting from activities undertaken based on information in the app.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable EU consumer protection law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Account suspension and termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these terms of service
  • You use the app in a way that could harm other users or the service itself
  • We are required to do so by law

If we suspend or terminate your account, we will notify you by email when reasonably possible. Data stored only on your device (bookmarks, trip plans) is not affected by account termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Lava Guide evolves. When we make meaningful changes, we will let you know through the app.

Continued use of Lava Guide after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the latest version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the consumer protection laws of the European Union. If you are a consumer in the EU, you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be overridden by contract.
